I am having a bear of a time getting my faculty and staff page to sort by last name. Is there an easy way to do that?

Hello, there are different ways to do this.
The Joomla way would be to add the last name of every contact into the 'first sort field' parameter of your contact details.
Then the first name into the 'second sort field'.
Then select 'by sort name' for the order parameter in the Trombinoscope component.
That method may not be good for you as you have about 300 contacts and if you have not set those fields already, it is a hell of a job to go through.
Another way (order by name format) is extensively explained in the documentation. It does not require you to add information in the sort fields of each contact. Let me know if you are having trouble understanding it.

That's awesome. Thanks. A follow up question. I read through the documentation (skimmed really) and I can't find a way to have the ABC index grab the last name instead of the first. Is there a quick and dirty way to do that?

It depends on the contact order you have selected. The default is the contact name field all together.
If order is 'by name format', it will depend on which part of the name it is ordered on (see 'name format' field in the contact information tab).
If ordered 'by sort name' (sort fields of the contact), well, I have found a bug I need to fix. Once fixed, it will take the first sort field's first letter into account.

Once I have the issue fixed and tested, I will send you a version to try on before release. Tomorrow probably.
