It is the right place (php.ini), mine has:
allow_url_fopen = On

Olivier, it's now at the root:
newsite.bevslakesidretreats.com

I tried = "1"
I tried = On
neither seem to switch the parameter ON. (I look at the php info from the J! backend.)
I'm hosting on 1and1 if that helps.

You may have to change the settings from the cpanel of your host. On mine, I can do it from their console and set the options I want.

Thanks,
I found the spot, made the modifications but it's not taking place. Now.. it is asking which folder to set the param to. Do i use the root? or a folder belonging to the module? or the image folder?

When setting it to the root, the php info from J! still reports the param to off.

Salut encore Olivier,

Still can't get allow_url_fopen to be "on".
To note, on 1and1 it is not recommended to have this settin ON for security reasons.

Could your script be written so it doesn't have to be turned ON thus maintaining security tight?

UPDATE:
I got it working Olivier. I was thrown off by the fact that the php info page in J! was reporting it to be off... but it was actually on "enough" for the module to work. In the end I put the php.ini file only in the root.

Having said that, I'm still concerned about having that declaration set to ON for security reasons.

Any chance of making the module work without this requirement?

Merci pour ton aide.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Gilles
